SAP Digital Currency Hub

This week, we tested SAP’s newly announced Digital Currency Hub, enabling seamless invoice approval, payment, settlement, and reconciliation—all in a single blockchain transaction using a stable cryptocurrency.

This week we tested out SAP’s newly announced Digital Currency Hub.  We issued an invoice which was immediately approved and paid by our customer and settled and reconciled by our system all in one transaction using a public blockchain and a stable crypto currency.

I started my technical career as an SAP (ABAP) developer right around when it was possible for companies to communicate via API (BAPIs).  What happened was an explosion of development and integration work which drove efficiencies in global supply chains,  reduced time to market for products, and made the enterprises who adopted them more efficient and profitable.

This Is Bigger:

What we tested this week has the potential to not only reduce time and effort in payments and reconciliation processes but also to onboard the global SAP customers to RWA and Defi.

- Advanced & Programable Treasury Management - Idle capital automatically earning yield.
- Efficiencies of Sale - Good Receipts immediately trigger payments and settlements.
- Programmable Enterprise Workflows with Instant Milestone payments.
- Assets already digitized in SAP systems are tokenized, liquid, and productive.

How Big Is This Opportunity?

According to SAP's 2020 annual report, the company has over 440,000 customers in more than 180 countries, and its software is used by 77% of the world's transaction revenue touches a SAP system.

Let that sink in. Everything, everywhere soon.

As RWAs surpass $36B in on-chain value, emerging economies may become the center of gravity for asset-based, decentralized finance.
